The camera was set with high film speed, and to overexpose by 1 F stop. The flash was adjusted to add another F stop, so when she got close the whites all blew out.
I got a lot of pics of this guy and his owl. It was cute as all get out and a good crowd gatherer.
The dancers, on the other hand, were back by the band which is what I'd adjusted everything for, so the exposure on this one is about perfect.
Don't think the flash fired on this one. At the end of the day the flash batteries were about totaled, so at this point it was probably taking longer to recycle than usual. I didn't bring in the big Metz flash - I left it in the car since I didn't think I'd need it - and the Nikon Speedlight is close to its limits in this big a space.
This one and the next were just totally blown out by the 2 F stop overexposure. I tried a number of editing tools, but if the info isn't there, you can't regenerate it, so this is about as good as I could get these.
